The Forgetting Syllabus is a dystopian fiction by way of a redacted zine. Set in a small Philippine coastal town plagued by collective amnesia, it is a narrative and form-making exploration of erasure as an act of political violence and remembering as resistance. Moreover, this work offers a picture of the educational system’s failure to remind a nation of its brutal past. When history is thrown in a violent cycle of revision and distortion, remembering is radical. Memory is a form of resistance.
